| How do I get my user homepage setup on Lynchburg.Net? |
| It's actually very simple, Lynchburg.Net customers need only fill out the simple form to set up their free homepage. Follow the easy instructions and we will set it up for you. |
| What will my URL (web address) be? |
| All Lynchburg.Net customers receive a URL like this: http://users.Lynchburg.Net/username Your username is the first part of your email address before the "@Lynchburg.Net". For an additional fee, we will also host your own domain name, or setup a virtual domain for you, call Lynchburg.Net at (804)237-2657 for more details. |
| Can I use Microsoft Frontpage to design my site? |
| Currently we do not have Frontpage extensions set up on our user accounts, there are a number of other HTML editors that can perform just as well however. You can find some of these at: http://www.tucows.com |
| What is HTML, and how do I learn to use it? |
| HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a specification for text
writing that allows the user to create a standard document that "all" web
browsers are able to "view" as the "same". This means that I can
create one document that anyone on the world wide web can read if they open it. You can

| Can I use animated graphics and sounds? |
| Absolutely, but remember that the larger the file is in size, the longer it takes to load. Many people will not want to wait for hour so they can see your neat animated .gif, or listen to your way cool .wav. | Are there any restrictions on what my homepage can contain? |
| Yes, Lynchburg.Net tries hard to be the electronic village of Lynchburg, and as such is a family oriented provider. We ask that our user pages be clean, with no pornography, and a minimum of foul language. Basically make it PG, with no nudity. For more information on limitations on user pages read our Terms of Service. |
| How do I post my pages to your server? |
Once you have filled out the Webpage Setup form and received
notification that your site is ready, then you are ready to go. Follow these simple steps:

| What is this FTP stuff anyway? |
| FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, a method of transferring files from one computer to the other over the Net. |
| What FTP program should I use? |
| You can use any FTP program that you like. Some FTP programs are WS_FTP and CuteFTP. You can dowload these programs and others from http://www.tucows.com. |
| I FTP'd and everything is there, why does my page not come up when I type in my URL? |
| Make sure that your first page is called index.htm or index.html, this is, by default, the first page that a web browser looks for. If its not, rename your first page index.htm, then try it. If this doesn't work, send email to us at: webmaster@Lynchburg.Net or call us by phone at:(804)237-2657. |
